				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A comprehensive meeting on <strong>Thursday 6th June 2013</strong>, covering ethical and legal issues relevant to all grades of Anaesthetists. The purpose is to formally fulfil the CCT requirements. A mixture of lectures and smaller group workshops led by experts will allow interactive discussion of clinical scenarios encountered in the practice of anaesthesia. By the end of the course attendees will have greater confidence in approaching ethical dilemmas and an understanding of the law to enable relevant and clear documentation.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Friday 30th November 2012, at the Royal college of Anaesthetists, there was a study day on Assisted Dying, with talks from top legal Professors and Hospital Consultants with a particular interest  in this area. Topics covered will included the UK law on assisted dying from a legal perspective, how it affects clinical practice, how the law here differs from Europe, a view from the public perspective and a debate discussing whether UK law in relation to assisted dying is indefensible.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Society for Ethics and Law in Medicine is a specialist society for doctors, lawyers, health and other professionals who have an interest in this field.</p>
<p>Medico-legal and ethical matters are becoming ever more prominent in Medicine.</p>
<p>The society aims to provide a forum whereby clinicians. lawyers and others with an interest in this area, can communicate as well as generate debate, exchange information and other relevant ideas. It will also provide a voice for those working within the speciality, allowing them to express their views and interests. An email discussion forum is also available to members.</p>
<p>The society will also be a resource centre for those with an interest in the field and encourage the formation of networks. We hope to  provide a voice for people with an interest in this area.</p>
<p>In relation to ethics and law in medicine and related disciplines, the objectives of the society are:</p>
<ul>
<li>To promote study and understanding</li>
<li>To provide education</li>
<li>To encourage research</li>
<li>To create a forum for discussion and interchange between individuals and groups</li>
<li>To be a pool of useful resources and links for medicolegal and ethical matters.</li>
